MountainSeed raises $38M to scale AI appraisal platform
What's the deal? MountainSeed, an Atlanta-based provider of appraisal management and valuation technology for banks and credit unions, has raised a $38 million growth equity round. Long Ridge Equity PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → led the minority investment, with Fifth ThirdDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Bank providing debt financing.
What's the endgame? Founded in 2010, MountainSeed serves more than 500 clients and 2,800 financial professionals. The new capital will fund AI product development, expand its capital markets offerings, and widen its go-to-market reach.
Why now? The money will accelerate deployment of Augur, MountainSeed's AI-powered valuation and appraisal review platform. Drawing on tens of thousands of completed commercial appraisal reviews, Augur helps reviewers flag issues and speed turnarounds, while qualified professionals keep final authority over decisions.
"As AI transforms appraisal management and valuation technology, MountainSeed is incredibly well-positioned to extend its leadership," said Kevin Bhatt, managing partner at Long Ridge.
Bhatt and Rachel Philbin of Long Ridge will join MountainSeed's board.
What could go wrong? Automating credit and valuation workflows raises the stakes on accuracy and compliance for regulated financial institutions. MountainSeed's design keeps human reviewers in charge of every decision.
The signal: The $38 million round is modest by venture standards, sitting in the bottom tier of deal sizes. But it reflects growing investor appetite for AI applied to the unglamorous back-office plumbing of community banking, where established data advantages can be hard to replicate.
