Peak XV trims Groww stake in ₹1,756 crore block deal

Why it matters: The sale cuts Peak XV's holding in the Bengaluru-based stockbroker to 14.22% from 15.68%. The firm and its affiliates remain Groww's largest public shareholder.

What's the context? The transaction adds to a run of exits by early investors this year. In August, Y Combinator sold nearly 1.2% for ₹1,435 crore, while FrialeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → offloaded more than 11.3 million shares for ₹210 crore in June. In May, Peak XV, Ribbit Capital, and Y Combinator together sold a 4.71% stake for ₹5,326 crore.

The business: Groww is India's largest broking firm by active investors. In the June 2026 quarter, Billionbrains reported a 94% jump in net profit to ₹735 crore, up from ₹378 crore a year earlier, while consolidated revenue from operations rose 66% to ₹1,501 crore.

The buyers could not be identified from NSE data. Billionbrains shares rose marginally to ₹190.14 on Thursday.

The signal: Strong earnings and a run of large block deals point to early backers steadily cashing out of one of India's most-watched fintech listings — while retaining significant stakes.
