AirSuite lands C$100K Ontario grant to close aviation's air-ground data gap

What's the endgame? AirSuite will build a Ground Management System within Cirro's aviation operations software. The system will bring ground tasks — including fuelling, crew scheduling, safety reporting and equipment readiness — into one platform alongside flight operations.
Why now? While pilots and aircraft run on increasingly sophisticated software, many ground activities still rely on paper, radio and disconnected systems. AirSuite says that gap is one of aviation's significant operational blind spots.
Who's involved? Thunder Bay-based Wisk Air Helicopters will provide testing environments and real-world validation for the project. The 40-year operator serves mining, forestry, wildfire suppression and emergency response across Northwestern Ontario.
AirSuite CEO Michael Kleywegt said that connecting air and ground operations creates a shared operational picture to help operators make faster, better-informed decisions.
The signal: The grant is modest, but it points to a broader push to digitise aviation's overlooked ground layer and positions Northern Ontario as a testing ground for regional mobility software.
