State of European Mobility Startups – 2026 Edition
What happened in European mobility in 2026? This report, produced in collaboration with Via-ID, explores VC investment in mobility startups, sector and trend analysis.
Key findings
- VC funding for European mobility startups fell 27% to $4.8B in 2025, the lowest level since 2018 and about a third of the $14.9B peak of 2021.
- Debt, private equity and project finance now cover more than half of private investment in European mobility, which reached $10.1B in 2025 from $9.7B in 2024.
- Europe took 18% of global mobility funding in 2025 against 39% for the US, while still leading every other region on deal count with 39% of all rounds.
- EV battery and charging took 21% of European mobility VC funding in 2025, down from a 61% share at the 2023 peak, when it was the majority of the sector.
- Defence and dual-use mobility startups raised $231M in 2025, close to four times the $60M of 2020, led by ground and aerial unmanned systems.
