getquin raises €12M to build a wealth platform for Europe's retail investors

What's the deal? Berlin-based getquin has raised €12M in a round led by State Street Investment Management (State Street IM) and Portage. The funding will help the company evolve from a portfolio tracking tool into a full digital wealth management platform for private investors across Europe.

Founded in Berlin, getquin lets users track and analyse their personal wealth across brokers, asset classes, and geographies. The new capital will fund AI-powered insights, financial planning features, and hybrid advisory services aimed at digital-first retail investors.

As part of the deal, getquin will enter a strategic collaboration with State Street IM — one of the world's largest asset managers — to develop investment solutions. State Street IM will provide ETFs integrated directly into getquin's advisory offering.

Why now? Retail investing in Europe, and Germany in particular, is at an inflection point. More individuals are managing their own portfolios, but the tools available remain fragmented and outdated, according to getquin chief executive officer Christian Rokitta.

"Our vision is to give investors one intelligent platform that provides clarity on where they stand today, where they are headed, and how to make better financial decisions," Rokitta said.

State Street IM chief executive officer Yie-Hsin Hung called the German retail investment landscape "a unique and exciting crossroads," adding that technology is playing a central role in democratising access to investment solutions.

What could go wrong? Wealth management is a crowded space. Neobrokers and robo-advisers already compete fiercely for European retail investors, and user acquisition costs can be steep. Regulatory complexity across EU markets adds another layer of risk as getquin scales beyond Germany.

Relying on a single asset manager's ETFs for its advisory product could also raise questions about independence — a trait retail investors increasingly value.

The signal: The round reflects a broader trend of institutional asset managers seeking new distribution channels through fintech partnerships. For State Street IM, backing getquin is a bet that the next generation of European investors will be reached through platforms, not traditional advisers.

It also signals growing investor appetite for "full-stack" wealth platforms that combine tracking, planning, and advice — rather than point solutions that handle only one piece of the puzzle.
