GoWish raises $15.5M at $201M valuation to push into the US

What's the deal? Danish wishlist app GoWish has raised about $15.5 million in a Series A round that values it at roughly $201 million, a spokesperson told Bloomberg. New investors include former EQTDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → partner Mads DitlevsenDealroom has a profile for this one. What's the endgame? The Copenhagen-based app lets 18 million users create and share wishlists that friends and family can view and reserve. It will use the fresh capital to expand in the US, already its biggest market with nine million users.

Why now? GoWish ranked among the most downloaded US apps ahead of last Christmas, hitting number two on the App Store during the November rush. The company has more than doubled its American user base since London private equity firm Capital D bought a third of it in January 2025.

The numbers: The accounts show a company favouring growth over profit. Gross profit edged up to DKK 72.5 million in 2025 from DKK 70.1 million a year earlier, but a DKK 11 million profit in 2024 became a DKK 6.2 million loss, with DKK 29.2 million going into research and development and headcount passing 100.

The money comes from turning intent into commerce. GoWish runs around 65,000 affiliate partnerships and more than 700 direct brand relationships, and it has built a Global Commerce Media division around a product called Wish Signals that packages list additions as demand data. It recorded 194 million wishes in 2024, representing €10.7 billion of cumulative buying intentions — a figure it describes as intention, not revenue.

What could go wrong? A valuation above $200 million on gross profit under DKK 75 million implies buyers are pricing the user base and data, not current income. The platforms GoWish depends on for discovery are absorbing the same function, with Alibaba already wiring AI into end-to-end shopping on TaobaoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.

Try Dealroom →, controlled by chief executive Mads Dahlerup and other founders, bought it in 2020 and rebuilt it as a commerce business; it remains the majority owner.

The signal: For a European consumer app, raising at this point in the cycle counts for something, with capital concentrating into a handful of large AI deals and consumer businesses well down the queue. The next real test arrives in November, when GoWish learns whether last year's holiday spike was a season or a floor.
