Inner Logic raises $11.5M to simulate surgery on thousands of virtual patients

What's the endgame? The company's platform uses real clinical and procedural data to create virtual patients, letting device makers test products across thousands of simulated cases before physical trials. It targets procedural devices such as heart valves and catheters, plus robotic systems that could one day perform parts of surgery autonomously.
Why now? Much device development still relies on physical prototypes tested in cadaver labs or animal studies. Those experiments are expensive and expose a design to only a limited range of anatomy and conditions, the company said.
What could go wrong? Autonomous surgery faces a high regulatory and clinical bar, and simulation-trained systems must prove they generalise to real patients. Inner Logic said it has already run AI systems trained in simulation on physical hardware and autonomous procedures in animal models.
Chief executive officer Dr. Tito Porras framed the mission in a familiar comparison. "Surgery is on the same path as autonomous driving, which became real once the industry built the simulation and data systems to show a car could drive itself," he said.
The signal: At $11.5 million, the round sits in roughly the 96th percentile of all seed rounds in its industry and region, a sign of investor appetite for the "simulation layer" beneath medical robotics. If the approach holds, testing devices in software rather than labs could reshape how procedural medicine is built and proven.
