What each side brings: Le Toy Van is known for award-winning wooden toys, including doll houses, role-play sets and its bestselling Doctor's Kit. Pickles makes plush characters with a focus on quality, personality and design.
Why now? The deal follows a period of strong growth for Le Toy Van, which has posted year-on-year gains and added nine hires over the 12 months to August 2026.
What's the endgame? The move marks Le Toy Van's entry into the plush category, which it calls a natural fit for products built around imaginative and nurturing play. It plans to sit Mr Pickles plush toys alongside its doll houses, furniture and accessories.
"Entering plush also feels like a very natural progression for us," said Steven Le Van, managing director of Le Toy Van. He added the company sees "a real demand for beautifully designed, sustainable toys."
What's next? Le Toy Van will use its network of international distributors and retail partners to introduce Pickles globally. The expanded range will show at London Toy Fair and Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg, with a first look at Top Drawer London in September 2026.
The signal: The acquisition shows an established toy maker broadening beyond a single category to capture more of the play ecosystem, using an existing international footprint to scale a smaller brand quickly.
