Munich's 5U AI raises $3.2M pre-seed for logistics AI workers
What's the deal? 5U AIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Munich-based startup building AI "workers" for international freight teams, has raised $3.2 million in a pre-seed round. London-based Emerge CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → led the deal, joined by a group of angel investors made up of former senior executives from DHL, GEODIS, DSV, Maersk, and Ceva Logistics.
What's the endgame? Founded last year by Technical University of Munich graduates Yağız Abik and Fehmi Şener, 5U AI runs its AI workers inside the email and messaging channels logistics teams already use. The platform handles quoting, booking, shipment tracking, invoice reconciliation, data entry, and routine operational correspondence across air, sea, and road freight.
What sets it apart? 5U AI's "context layer" records the reasoning behind each decision its AI workers make, not just the task itself. That lets operations teams see what was done, why, and how — and refine similar decisions over time.
Who's using it? The startup already counts leading European logistics firms among its customers, including TCI International Logistics.
"We're not building a chatbot that answers a question and disappears," said co-founder and chief executive officer Yağız Abik. "We're building AI workers that genuinely understand operations, run the job end to end, and record the logic behind every decision."
What's the money for? 5U AI plans to hire across its product, engineering, operations, sales, and customer teams.
The signal: The $3.2 million round sits in the higher half of comparable early-stage deals, and the backing of ex-executives from the world's largest freight forwarders points to industry appetite for tools built by people who understand real operational problems — not generic AI.
