Intalus lands $20M seed to fuse ceramics into metals for defense
What's the deal? Intalus has raised $20 million in seed funding to scale production of its ceramic-infused metals, bringing total funding to $31 million. The round was led by Origin Ventures, with participation from Scout Ventures and Lockheed Martin Ventures.
What does Intalus do? The company integrates ceramics directly into metal to create engineered material architectures built for extreme environments. Using waveform energy to alter the internal structure of metals, it produces components that resist heat and corrosion far better than metal alone — combining metal's strength with ceramic's thermal and corrosion resistance in a single fused material.
Who uses it? Intalus counts the US military and NASA among its users, and more than half of Formula 1 teams reportedly rely on its materials. With headquarters in West Lafayette, Indiana and roots in Sweden, the company targets defense, aerospace and other demanding industrial applications.
