LIV buys fire-safety software pioneer Tegris, extending reach to 325+ agencies
What's the deal? LIV, a provider of inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) compliance software, has acquired TegrisDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an early developer of third-party inspection management software for Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) in Washington state. Tegris's team, technology, and customer base join LIV, which serves more than 325 AHJs across the US and Canada. Deal terms were not disclosed.
What each company does: LIV, founded in 2019, builds software for fire departments and AHJs — including fire prevention bureaus, municipalities, and regulatory agencies — covering premises management, permitting, deficiency tracking, and reporting. Tegris built a loyal AHJ customer base serving fire departments, inspection companies, and property owners.
What changes for customers? All Tegris customers will upgrade to the LIV platform at no additional cost, gaining added functionality, security, and a larger support team. Tegris founder Andrew Moren becomes a board advisor, and Jim Ribail joins the LIV executive team as vice president, strategic accounts.
Why now? LIV positions the deal as an expansion of both its footprint and customer base, particularly across Washington state, where Tegris held deep AHJ relationships.
What's the endgame? LIV wants to be the standard platform for managing both third-party contractor and fire department inspections. It also offers Compliance Review Services, staffing AHJ teams with retired fire marshals and certified inspectors at no cost to the agency.
The rationale: "Tegris helped build the market for third-party inspection management," said Ben Kaplan, CEO of LIV. Ribail added that joining LIV lets the team "do even more" for existing customers.
The signal: The acquisition reflects consolidation in the niche ITM and fire prevention software market, where LIV — already serving 4,000+ ITM contractors — is absorbing early movers to expand regional reach and standardise agencies onto one platform.
