Anputai raises 100M CNY Series A for perovskite-silicon solar tech
What's the deal? Anputai New Energy has raised 100 million CNY (about $14.7 million) in a Series A round led by the Shanghai Intellectual Property FundDealroom has a profile for this one. What does it do? The company develops perovskite-silicon tandem photovoltaic modules. It combines a new large-area perovskite manufacturing technique with the crystalline silicon industry's decades of accumulated expertise.
What's the endgame? Anputai is targeting module efficiency above 28% while cutting costs by roughly 10% compared with high-efficiency silicon modules. Higher power output per unit of area is meant to lower the cost per unit of electricity generated.
The company operates two research platforms: a forward-looking research centre in Shanghai and a demonstration line for scaling up its tandem technology.
Why now? Tandem cells stacking perovskite on silicon are seen as a path past the efficiency ceiling of conventional silicon panels. The challenge has long been producing them at scale, which is the barrier Anputai says it is working to break.
The signal: Backing from a state-linked intellectual property fund points to continued Chinese investment in next-generation solar manufacturing, where the race is to bring lab-grade efficiency gains into mass production.
