Alchemity lands $250K seed from TEDCO for carbon-neutral fuels

What's the deal? AlchemityDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a College Park, Maryland climate tech startup, has raised $250,000 in a seed round from TEDCODealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the Maryland Technology Development Corporation. The money came through TEDCO's GAP Investment Fund, part of its Seed Funds programme.

What's the endgame? Alchemity is building a modular, turnkey reactor system that converts greenhouse gases and underused waste into carbon-neutral products in a single step. It aims to sell those products at price parity with conventional alternatives.

What's the money for? The funds will help the company prove its technology at scale. The investment "allows Alchemity to validate technical performance at a meaningful scale and reduce commercialization risk," said co-founder and chief executive officer Emir Dogdibegovic.

Why now? The round extends a relationship that began in 2023, when Alchemity won a Company Formation award from TEDCO's Maryland Innovation Initiative. Rising energy demand is pushing startups to develop cleaner alternatives, said Teddy Gresser, senior director of TEDCO's Seed Funds.

The signal: TEDCO is tying its bet to state policy. Maryland ranks fourth in energy efficiency and has committed to cutting greenhouse gas emissions 60% by 2031 — a backdrop that its chief executive officer Troy LeMaile-Stovall framed as "an advantage for companies looking to research, innovate and grow clean tech solutions."
