Bufab buys UK ironwork distributor DC Iron, adding £14.8M in sales
What's the deal? Sweden's BufabDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has agreed to acquire 100% of D.C. Handrails and Ironwork Parts LimitedDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → ("DC Iron"), a UK distributor of iron work parts with net sales of £14.8 million in 2025. The seller is founder Dave Collins, his wife Sandra Collins, and son Scott Collins, who stays on as managing director.
What does DC Iron do? Based in Newcastle upon Tyne with 40 employees, it distributes wrought iron components, key clamps, handrailing, and fencing to fabricators, engineering companies, and building contractors across the UK. End customers span infrastructure, public indoor, and safety segments.
What's the endgame? Bufab is a C-parts supply chain partner founded in 1977, now spanning more than 60 companies and 1,900 employees across 31 countries. The deal fits its strategy of buying profitable companies in niche C-parts and technical components markets.
Why now? DC Iron operates in what Bufab calls "an attractive and resilient niche market," with an operating profit margin well above Bufab's own target and strong recent growth.
By the numbers: Bufab posted annual sales of SEK 8.1 billion in 2025. DC Iron will be reported within its UK and Ireland region and is expected to have a marginal but positive impact on earnings per share this year. The acquisition lifts Bufab's adjusted net debt to about SEK 2,930 million versus end-March levels.
What changes for customers? Scott Collins keeps leading the business, and Bufab has stressed appreciation for DC Iron's "culture, our people, and the relationships we have built over the years." The deal is expected to complete in July 2026.
The signal: The purchase extends Bufab's steady run of bolt-on acquisitions in European C-parts distribution, following deals for Italy's VITAL SpA and, in 2022, UK-based TI Midwood & Co. Rather than a transformational move, it deepens Bufab's UK construction-hardware platform amid ongoing consolidation in the sector.
