Arcadis raises €300M with new Eurobond maturing in 2031

What's the deal? Arcadis, the Dutch engineering and consultancy giant, has successfully priced a €300 million Eurobond. The bond carries a 4% annual coupon and matures on May 20, 2031.

Net proceeds will go toward refinancing existing debt and general corporate purposes. The notes are expected to settle on May 20, 2026, and will be listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.

Why now? The issuance is part of Arcadis' proactive management of its funding and debt maturity profile. By locking in a five-year bond now, the company extends its repayment timeline and reduces near-term refinancing risk.

The offering drew strong demand from a broad base of institutional investors — a sign that credit markets remain receptive despite the current environment.

What could go wrong? A 4% coupon reflects the elevated rate environment, meaning Arcadis is paying more to borrow than it would have a few years ago. If rates fall significantly before 2031, the company could find itself locked into relatively expensive debt.

The signal: Large European corporates continue tapping bond markets to shore up balance sheets and push out maturities. Arcadis, which reported €5 billion in gross revenues for 2025 and employs around 34,000 people across 30-plus countries, is using this window of investor appetite to strengthen its capital structure.

"This transaction represents an important step in further strengthening our capital structure and extending our maturity profile," said Simon Crowe, chief financial officer of Arcadis.
