MemoMind raises ¥60M led by CICC Emerging Fund as XGIMI's AI glasses bet picks up steam

What's the deal? MemoMindDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an AI smart glasses brand incubated by Chinese projector giant XGIMI Technology, has raised ¥60M (roughly $8.3M) through a capital increase in its operating entity, Shenzhen Qinglai. The round was led by CICC Emerging Fund alongside two other investors, who will collectively hold a 7.23% stake in the company post-deal. XGIMI's ownership will dip from 47.69% to 44.24% but it will retain control of the subsidiary.

Why now? MemoMind has already launched three products — MemoMind One, MemoMind Air Display, and MemoMind Air — targeting business and social settings. The devices deliberately omit cameras to reduce weight, save power, and ease privacy concerns — a design choice that lowers the social awkwardness often associated with smart glasses. Fresh capital should help the company scale production and distribution as the AI wearables market heats up.

What could go wrong? The smart glasses category is littered with expensive flops. Competing against deep-pocketed players like Meta and emerging Chinese rivals will test MemoMind's niche positioning. And while dropping the camera differentiates the product, it also limits functionality compared to camera-equipped alternatives.

The signal: MemoMind is still at the early growth stage, yet it secured backing from CICC FundDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, one of China's most prominent institutional investors — a sign that smart money sees a credible path for AI glasses designed around privacy and lightweight daily use rather than camera-laden feature stacking. With parent company XGIMI providing optical engineering expertise and retaining a controlling stake, MemoMind has a built-in hardware advantage that most AI wearable startups lack.
