UFODRIVE, founded in 2018 by CEO Aidan McClean and COO Renaud Marquet, operates as a technology-driven car rental company with an all-electric fleet. The venture was born out of McClean's frustrating personal experiences with traditional car rentals, prompting a complete redesign of the process centered on automation and the customer. The company's business model is bifurcated, earning revenue through direct-to-consumer rentals and a B2B Software as a Service (SaaS) platform called UFOFLEET.

For individual consumers, UFODRIVE provides a completely digital and contactless rental experience via a mobile application. The second revenue stream, UFOFLEET, is a comprehensive fleet enablement platform commercialized after being refined for five years within UFODRIVE's own operations. This SaaS platform offers a white-label solution for other businesses—including rental companies, last-mile delivery services, and corporate fleets—to manage their own electric vehicles. It provides tools for operations automation, vehicle reservations, real-time fleet data, and energy management, enabling partners to operate fleets 24/7 with minimal on-site resources. Strategic partnerships have been a key element of its growth. A significant milestone was a $19 million Series A funding round in February 2022, co-led by Certares and car rental giant Hertz. This partnership involves Hertz utilizing the UFOFLEET platform to enhance its own global EV fleet operations. The company has also partnered with Stellantis to automate and improve the test drive experience and with Inspiration Fleet to accelerate its North American expansion.
