GO Sharing, established in 2019 by founders Gagan Saini, Donny van den Oever, and Raymon Pouwels, emerged as a key player in the European shared mobility market. The company offers a fleet of shared electric vehicles, including e-mopeds, e-bikes, and electric cars, accessible through a pay-per-use model via its mobile application. This service targets urban commuters and residents seeking convenient and sustainable transportation alternatives for short-distance travel.

The business operates on a free-floating model, allowing users to locate, unlock, and ride vehicles from and to any location within designated service areas in various cities. Revenue is generated directly from user rides, which are billed on a per-minute basis. To enhance user experience and operational efficiency, the platform provides features like real-time vehicle availability, battery status, and in-app booking and payment. A distinctive operational element is their battery-swapping service, managed by a dedicated logistics team, which ensures vehicles remain charged and available without requiring users to handle charging themselves.

Initially launching with 200 e-mopeds in Nieuwegein, the company saw rapid expansion, backed by a significant €50 million investment from investor Opportunity Partners. This funding fueled its growth into numerous cities across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Turkey. Despite its ambitious international expansion, GO Sharing faced financial difficulties, leading to a declaration of bankruptcy for its Dutch operations in early 2023. Subsequently, the company was acquired by its Turkish subsidiary, which continued operations, albeit on a more consolidated scale, focusing on a smaller number of cities. This strategic shift reflects a move towards ensuring the long-term viability of its core shared mobility service.
