Future Fields Adds VC Partners to Its Board After Series A

Future Fields, the Edmonton-based biotech innovator powered by its fruit-fly “EntoEngine,” has successfully closed an oversubscribed Series A round, catalyzing its expansion in cleantech biomanufacturing. Notably, the companies leading this fundraising effort will take a more hands-on role: partners from each venture firm backing the round will join Future Fields’ board of directors, including Pascal Lanctot of BDC’s Climate Tech Fund, Kathryn WortsmanDealroom has a profile for this one. This strategic move reflects a deeper commitment from investors, signaling that their confidence goes beyond mere capital. By securing board seats, these partners aim to provide oversight, guidance, and access to their extensive networks—accelerating Future Fields’ ambitions to scale protein production sustainably, address bottlenecks in biomedical research, and serve customers across pharmaceuticals, cultivated meat, and beyond.

With recent participation from Amplify Capital, BDC, R7 Partners, Toyota Ventures, BoxOne Ventures, Builders VC, TRAC VC, University of Alberta Innovation Fund, and others, the assembled board will blend scientific vision with venture acumen.

This infusion of governance from investment to oversight marks a pivotal inflection point for Future Fields. As it builds out its first production facility and aims to transform biotech infrastructure, the enhanced board will serve as a cornerstone for both technical decision‑making and commercialization strategies.
