FT: Index Ventures raises $2.3bn to chase AI breakthroughs

Source: Financial Times

Index Ventures has raised $2.3 billion to invest in artificial intelligence, seeing it as a transformative technology comparable to the advent of PCs, smartphones, or cloud computing. More than half of its recent investments focus on AI, backing companies like Paris-based Mistral AI and Toronto's Cohere. Despite concerns about an AI investment bubble, Index Ventures believes that significant opportunities exist, especially in sectors indirectly competing with big tech companies. The fundraising indicates a renewed interest in venture capital, with other firms like Andreessen Horowitz also securing substantial funds.
