What does it do? Starway runs a one-stop, business-to-business wealth technology platform for financial institutions. It offers a full-category product shelf spanning cash management, public and private funds, structured notes, bonds, insurance, and virtual assets, plus services such as robo-advisory and discretionary account management.

What's the money for? Chairman Cheng Kang said the company will use the round to "further empower financial institutions and corporate clients" with wealth management and capital operation technology. CEO Cai Hua said the financing will drive Starway's work in wealth management and AI.

Why HSBC? The bank framed the deal as part of a broader digital push. "We are delighted to collaborate with fintech companies such as Starway Technology to introduce innovative features and implement feasible solutions to enhance the customer experience," said Fang Xiao, general manager of HSBC Commercial Banking and head of Hong Kong and Macau.
