VIP acquires Encompass Technologies to push AI across food and beverage

What's the endgame? VIP wants to broaden access to technology and expand its capabilities across the food and beverage ecosystem. The acquisition combines Encompass' technology and talent with VIP's scale, industry expertise, and customer relationships to serve suppliers, distributors, and retailers.

Why now? "The industry is at an important inflection point," said Andrew Criezis, chief executive officer of VIP. He pointed to AI creating "new possibilities for how businesses operate, make decisions, and serve their customers." Criezis will remain CEO across both companies.

What's next? VIP is investing in connected solutions and agentic workflows to help customers automate complex work and turn data into insight. It expects the next generation of food and beverage technology to move beyond traditional software toward intelligent systems that interpret data, recommend actions, and help execute work.

The signal: The deal reflects a broader push to embed AI in industry-specific software, as vertical technology providers consolidate to build scale and accelerate modernization.
