The company, founded by Matthew Ao, Arihant Bapna, and Jason Zhao, is building a distributed filesystem for people and AI agents. It is live and generating revenue.

What's the endgame? Space wants files to stay accessible as work moves between machines, applications, and collaborators. For agents, that means persistent cloud filesystems they can read from, write to, and hand off. "An agent can then continue a task on another machine, and a person can open and review its work in the applications they already use," said Ao.

How it works: Rather than uploading, downloading, and syncing copies, Space mounts data as a filesystem inside an agent's cloud environment. Files appear immediately, and Space streams only the portions its tools request from object storage. That skips repeated transfers and duplicate storage across larger datasets.

Why now? The founders hit the problem at their previous company, EdenDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, where moving large files between people cost the team time. As AI agents take on more work, they face the same constraint: they need a workspace that survives when the machine running them shuts down.

Traction: One enterprise pilot uses Space to store and back up email data, then runs agent workflows against it to assist with sales. Other teams are evaluating Space to power internal agent tools and build persistent company knowledge.

The signal: As companies deploy AI agents alongside human staff, the infrastructure that lets both work on the same files without constant copying is becoming its own category — and early money is following it.
