The leadership shift: Konto's arrival frees founder Li Sun to move into the president and chief technology officer role, where he will keep leading scientific strategy and pipeline work. The company frames the change as its transition to development-stage execution.
What's the endgame? Founded in 2021, Shennon has built a technology platform spanning target discovery, ultra-high-throughput screening, computational binder prediction, and AI-enabled safety assessment. The new money funds three T-cell engager programs targeting small cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and hepatocellular carcinoma.
The company operates roughly 6,000 square feet of lab space near UCSF Mission Bay and has assembled datasets from fresh tumour samples sourced through hospital and academic partnerships.
"We are entering an important new stage for ShennonBio as we advance our first TCE programs toward the clinic," Sun said.
The signal: At $12 million, the round sits in roughly the 82nd percentile for deal size — a substantial early-stage raise for a biotech still moving its first candidates toward the clinic. Pairing fresh capital with a veteran chief executive is a common playbook as science-stage startups shift toward drug development.
