What's the endgame? Co-founder Paloma Newton wants to build what she calls "the biggest pet healthcare brand in the world." The company is moving from its original cell-banking business toward a platform focused on canine longevity.

Why now? The longevity trend driving human health investment is spreading to pets. "We believe that Elita is about to give dogs better standard of care than humans," Boost VC founder and managing director Adam Draper said.

Deal detail: Newton said the round closed in three weeks, with another $100,000 left open for potential strategic investors. She framed the relatively small size as deliberate, built around three specific partners.

"We were after a fantastic partner in the US, which we got. We were after a really strong partner in Australia, which we got through Gandel, and we were also after a partner who could be a global growth partner, which is Artesian," she said.

The signal: At $1.9 million, this is a modest early raise — around the 19th percentile by amount. But it shows investor appetite for longevity science extending beyond humans, with pets emerging as a next frontier for bio breakthroughs.
