Try Dealroom →, a Silicon Valley-based enterprise AI platform for complex software engineering. The Bengaluru design and technology firm announced the deal on September 10, 2026, deepening a collaboration that has run for the past year.

What does Kavia do? The company builds an enterprise software engineering platform designed for complex codebases. It connects teams through code understanding, workflow automation, artifact generation, and validation across repositories, supporting Visual Studio CodeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, CLI, and GitDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →-based workflows with customer-controlled deployment.

Why now? The two have already worked together deploying the platform for enterprise use cases, tackling release-cycle speed, quality, resilience, and cybersecurity readiness. The investment came through STEP.UP, Tata Elxsi's engagement program for deep tech startups.

What's the endgame? The tie-up pairs Tata Elxsi's domain-led engineering with Kavia's knowledge graph and workflow intelligence platform. Together they aim to help enterprises implement the AI Development Lifecycle — spanning architecture design, refactoring, quality assurance, and deployment.

"This investment reflects a shared vision for AI-driven software engineering," said Manoj Raghavan, chief executive officer and managing director of Tata Elxsi. Kavia founder and chief executive Labeeb Ismail said the platform lets enterprises build "the necessary checks and balances required to operationalize AI across the software lifecycle."

The signal: As enterprises look to apply AI across the whole software lifecycle, established engineering-services firms are buying into specialist startups rather than building the tooling themselves. Tata Elxsi's move — turning a year-long partnership into equity — shows how such collaborations are hardening into ownership stakes.
