Try Dealroom → has completed the acquisition of fellow Canadian modular construction firm ROC ModularDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The combined business will operate under the MODUS brand and, by workforce and manufacturing footprint, become one of the largest modular construction companies in Canada. Financial terms were not disclosed.
What each side brings: MODUS has more than 20 years delivering off-site buildings for government, education, continuing-care, housing, commercial and industrial customers. ROC adds permanent modular and industrial work, including social and affordable housing, Indigenous projects, multi-family residential, hospitality, workforce accommodation and emergency-response facilities.
By the numbers: The merged company has more than 460 employees and roughly 260,000 square feet of certified manufacturing space across three facilities in Crossfield and Bow Island, Alberta. Crossfield stays the head office and a major manufacturing centre, while ROC's Bow Island plant remains part of the production network.
What's the endgame? The deal creates an integrated platform combining design, engineering, project-delivery and manufacturing expertise. Leaders say the added scale lets the company take on more complex projects and balance production across a larger footprint.
What changes for customers? They gain a broader product portfolio, more manufacturing flexibility and greater access to specialised expertise. The company also expects to diversify supplier relationships, with a continued focus on Canadian vendors.
"We are combining exceptional people, complementary production technologies and a broader product portfolio with the scale to take on more complex projects and deliver with greater certainty," said Allan Willms, president and chief executive officer of MODUS Structures.
"Joining MODUS gives our team access to greater capacity, broader capabilities and new opportunities to grow, while preserving the customer focus, execution discipline and passion that define ROC," said Joe Kiss, president and chief executive officer of ROC Modular.
The signal: MODUS is 100% Canadian-owned, mostly Canadian-supplied and serves a mostly Canadian customer base. The company frames its expanded scale, diversified end markets and domestic supply relationships as a hedge against ongoing cross-border trade uncertainty.
