Boundless Discovery raises $2M seed to map critical markets with AI

What's the deal? Halifax-based Boundless Discovery has raised a US$2 million (C$2.8 million) seed round to build an AI-powered platform that maps and analyses critical markets. The backers include venture capital funds in the US and UK, family offices, and executives across the technology, energy, and financial sectors. It did not name the investors.

What's the endgame? The company combines open-source intelligence, AI, and human analysis to model markets down to individual assets, companies, and the flows and dependencies across entire value chains. It aims to build what it calls "the world's most comprehensive living, atomic models of critical markets."

Why now? Founded in late 2024, Boundless Discovery spent the past year developing its system while working with hedge funds, private equity firms, and forensic investigators. It is now launching its Core Market coverage, which maps and analyses whole value chains.

Nuclear energy is the first sector covered, with the analysis available publicly as a free deep dive.

The company partnered with US firm Palantir TechnologiesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in January 2025 to develop its flagship product on Palantir's platform.

"We're very proud of the group of investors who have decided to back us," chief executive officer Peter Gale said. "Now it's time to prove they made the right choice."

The signal: At $2 million, the round sits in the modest range for seed deals, but the mix of transatlantic funds and sector executives points to demand for tools that can make sense of complex, high-stakes markets like nuclear energy.
