Modus Therapeutics raises $797K ahead of key trial readout

What's the deal? Modus Therapeutics has raised SEK 7.6 million (about $797,277) through a directed share issue on Nasdaq First North Growth Market. Tellus Equity ABDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Selandia Alpha Invest A/S led the round, joined by existing shareholders Daniel Nilsson and Saman Naziri.

The terms: The company issued 20,000,000 shares at SEK 0.38 each, a discount of about 14.8% to its closing share price. The issue lifts share capital to SEK 10,122,107.46 and dilutes existing shareholders by roughly 11.9%.

Why now? Modus is approaching proof-of-concept data from its Phase IIa study in chronic kidney disease with anemia, expected around the turn of the year. The raise gives it runway to act on that readout.

What's the endgame? The proceeds will fund manufacturing of the company's pharmaceutical product, support its collaboration on severe malaria, and back business development should the Phase IIa data prove favorable.

"We are approaching a critical value-driving milestone for Modus Therapeutics, with proof-of-concept data expected around the turn of the year," said chief executive officer John Öhd. He called the placement "a disciplined step to ensure that we can act decisively on the opportunities that follow."

The signal: The small, discounted placement points to a clinical-stage biotech topping up its balance sheet just before a make-or-break data point — enough to keep manufacturing moving and negotiations open, but modest enough to reflect the risk that remains until results land.
