The Wellness Company raises $1.6M CAD seed to build AI health companion Tempo

What's the deal? The Wellness Company (TWC)Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Toronto consumer healthtech startup, has closed nearly $1.6 million CAD (about $1.16 million) in seed funding. BDC Capital's Seed Venture Fund led the round, with support from BKR CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, LaunchDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and undisclosed angel investors.

What's the endgame? TWC wants to evolve from a set of individual health apps into a focused startup built around TempoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an AI companion users interact with through iMessage. Tempo pulls data from TWC's other apps, wearables, and diet, habit, and lab inputs to help users set and track health goals such as losing weight or sleeping better.

Founded by Presh Dineshkumar and childhood friend Dray Williams, TWC began as a product studio. Since 2025 it has launched four apps: cold plunge- and sauna-tracker GoPolarDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, sunlight-monitor SunSeekDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, mobility app Posture AIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Tempo, its most recent.

Why now? Those apps have collectively drawn tens of thousands of users, over 10,000 paying customers, and more than six figures in annual recurring revenue. Dineshkumar is betting Tempo will be the company's most impactful product.

The round, closed in August via simple agreements for future equity, brings TWC's total funding past $2 million. The company plans to grow its three-person team and invest in AI and Tempo's rollout.

Dineshkumar spent seven years in media and venture capital at Jason Calacanis' Launch in Silicon Valley before returning to Toronto. He rose to chief of staff and co-director of Founder University. "Presh was my right hand at the Launch fund," Calacanis said.

The signal: The raise sits in the middle of the pack for its stage — a modest cheque that reflects both the capital efficiency of a three-person team and the challenge consumer healthtech faces in standing out. TWC's bet is that bundling scattered health apps under one AI companion turns a portfolio of trackers into a single habit-forming product.
