Panthera Resources raises $2.7M for gold exploration and India arbitration fight

What's the deal? Panthera ResourcesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a gold exploration and development company listed on London's AIM market, has raised approximately £2.69 million ($2.69 million) before expenses through a placing and subscription. It issued 15,362,780 new ordinary shares at 17.5 pence each, representing about 5.6% of its enlarged share capital.

Where's the money going? The company plans to use the proceeds for working capital, including general administration and potential arbitration costs tied to its claim against the Republic of India. Admission of the new shares to AIM is expected around September 9, 2026.

What else is happening? Separately, non-executive chairman Michael Higgins intends to sell 2,500,000 existing shares for roughly £0.44 million at the same issue price. The company will not receive any proceeds from that sale, which is expected to help satisfy demand from an oversubscribed round and cover Higgins's family healthcare costs.

By the numbers: The subscription raised about £1.80 million through 10,288,494 shares, with the placing accounting for a further £0.89 million. The round was oversubscribed, leaving some investor demand unmet.

The signal: The raise is a modest one, landing in the smallest few percent of tracked equity rounds by size. For a junior gold explorer, though, secondary equity remains a primary funding route — here, financing both fieldwork and a legal battle against a sovereign state.
