Sheffield's Siguru raises seed round to speed up pharma compliance

What's the deal? Siguru, a Sheffield-founded startup building an AI system for pharmaceutical medical, legal and regulatory (MLR) review, has closed its second external seed round, backed by angel investors, friends, family and industry contacts. Founders Dan Bentley and Harry Bliss launched the company in May 2025.

What's the endgame? Siguru's platform aims to cut MLR approval timelines from 40 days to a week for pharma marketing and medical teams. The funding will fund product development, validate market demand, and prepare the company for growth across UK and international pharmaceutical firms.

The startup has assembled a team of medical and commercial specialists with more than 250 years of combined MLR experience, working alongside AI experts.

Why now? The company is moving toward a commercial launch. Bliss said the money will fund hiring and improvements to a minimum viable product, adding that Siguru will "expand through developing partnerships and go-to-market, working closely with medical and compliance leaders to build for real-world pharma workflows."

Its products target teams "anywhere approval speed and compliance both matter," Bliss said — from marketing and medical affairs to governance and leadership.

The signal: Two rounds in quick succession point to investor appetite for the North of England's growing AI market. Tom Haywood of Wake Smith SolicitorsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which advised on both raises, said the deals "confirm a healthy appetite for investment into the right companies at all levels and supports the North's burgeoning AI market."
