MIRAVA raises $5M angel round to launch a smart, modular boat

What's the deal? MIRAVADealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a smart recreational boat startup, has raised €4.2 million ($5 million) in angel funding to move from three years of product development into small-batch production and customer deliveries.

What's the endgame? The company has spent three years building a single recreational boat platform that combines intelligent navigation, modular design and software-driven features. Its aim is to create a new category of intelligent boats rather than add autonomous tech to an existing one.

How does it work? The first boat is designed for cruising, family leisure, socialising, swimming, fishing and water-sports. A modular stern can be reconfigured for different activities, and a detachable section can operate independently as a tender or water platform.

Its intelligent navigation system includes autonomous docking, autonomous departure and arrival, Dynamic Positioning and intelligent following. A smart wearable lets the boat follow a swimmer, paddle-boarder or diver at a safe distance.

Why now? Recreational boating remains organised around traditional single uses such as cruising, fishing and entertaining, even as consumers elsewhere expect connected, adaptable, software-assisted products. MIRAVA is betting the sector can make a similar shift.

What's the money for? The funding will support continued product and software development plus the next stage of manufacturing and delivery. MIRAVA will introduce the boat at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2026, followed by boot Düsseldorf in January 2027.

The signal: The round sits in the 96th percentile for angel deals among European technology startups, a sample of 8,518 rounds — a sizeable early bet on reframing boating around adaptable, software-driven platforms rather than fixed use cases.
