Who are they? Founded in 2002, ROI Engineering provides control system integration, engineering, consulting, and technical services across process industries, with depth in food and beverage and petrochemicals. It is best known for its process controls work in commercial baking, supporting automated production lines for leading North American bakery producers.
What's the endgame? The deal adds an engineering team specialising in PLC programming, SCADA and HMI development, and turnkey system integration. It strengthens ONDEX's process automation platform, a Chicago-based integrator serving North American manufacturers.
Why the West Coast? The acquisition extends ONDEX's reach into California, where a number of its existing customers run significant manufacturing plants. "For our customers with plants in the Western U.S., that expertise is now local," said chief executive officer Justin Kerr.
Why now? This is ONDEX's seventh acquisition since April 2024, and the company says it is actively pursuing more integrator partners. Founder and president Harley Moeljanto framed the sale as a growth move: ONDEX "can give our team access to broader capabilities and larger opportunities than we could pursue on our own."
The signal: ONDEX, backed by Chicago private equity firm Shore Capital PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one.
