Foods Connected buys iFoodDS' Quality Insights as seller doubles down on traceability
What's the deal? Foods ConnectedDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired the Quality Insights business from Seattle-based iFoodDS, the companies said. The move lets iFoodDS concentrate on Trace Exchange, its traceability platform for food companies. Terms were not disclosed.
What does each side do? iFoodDS builds connected traceability and food safety software, including a program to help firms meet the FDA's Food Traceability Rule. Foods Connected runs a supply chain platform covering supplier compliance, quality inspection, food safety, and procurement.
Why now? "Traceability has become a strategic priority across the food industry," said Scott Mathews, chief executive officer of iFoodDS. He pointed to rising demand for tools that connect trading partners, exchange data, and address food safety and compliance challenges.
What's the endgame? iFoodDS plans to expand its connected traceability network and accelerate product innovation. The company said it will increase spending on network growth, customer success, and ecosystem partnerships around Trace Exchange.
What changes for customers? Quality Insights users will now be supported through Foods Connected. "We are committed to supporting a smooth transition for all customers and stakeholders associated with Quality Insights," Mathews said.
