Powell buys Dutch peer Synigo in its first acquisition, entering the Benelux
What's the deal? Paris-based digital workplace software firm Powell has acquired Dutch peer SynigoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, its first acquisition and its entry into the Netherlands. The combination lets Powell serve the full workforce, from office staff to frontline workers. Terms were not disclosed.
What each side brings: Powell offers a Microsoft 365-based digital workplace platform that combines employee experience, IT governance, and AI-readiness. Synigo, founded in 2016 in Deventer, built Synigo PulseDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a platform aimed at frontline workers and users without a Microsoft 365 licence.
Why it fits: Powell runs natively on Microsoft 365, while Synigo runs on its own infrastructure, giving customers more flexibility over where their data is hosted. Together the two serve more than 800 organisations and over 2.5 million users worldwide.
Why now? "Digital sovereignty is currently high on the agenda in European boardrooms, and Synigo gives us a concrete answer to that," said Powell chief executive officer Edouard Payenneville (translated from Dutch). He added that the deal lets the combined firm "reach 100% of the employees within an organisation."
Expansion angle: The acquisition strengthens Powell's position in the Benelux and adds complementary capabilities in frontline work and digital sovereignty. Synigo will keep operating under its own name and product, led by founders Xavier Geerdink and Derk van Lochem, with both platforms running independently for now.
What's the endgame? Powell is backed by private equity firm Cathay CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which became majority shareholder in October 2025. "This acquisition is an important step in Powell's next growth phase," said Cathay Capital partner Jean-Marc Prunet (translated from Dutch).
The signal: The deal reflects consolidation in the digital workplace market, as vendors move to cover both office and frontline staff and respond to European demand for control over where data sits. The transaction closed on August 6, 2026.
