What are they building? EveryCarbon makes high-performance shielding materials via a biomanufacturing platform that turns organic waste-derived feedstocks into chemical building blocks. Its first product, ECOne, targets performance insulation for industrial use. Denmark's Wren Bioscience builds rapid diagnostics that help dairy producers detect thermoresistant bacteria in milk, with results in as little as two minutes.
Where the money goes: EveryCarbon will validate ECOne for demanding industrial applications, deepen work with industry partners, and lay groundwork for commercial-scale production. Wren Bioscience will strengthen its intellectual property and regulatory strategy, expand commercial engagement, and prepare validation pilots for autumn 2026 and further pilots in 2027.
At €350,000, each round sits around the 34th percentile for seed deals — modest tickets aimed at moving lab-stage science toward market.
Why these two? "EveryCarbon and Wren Bioscience are tackling very different challenges, with very different technologies, yet both stood out for the same reasons: exceptional science, ambitious founders and the potential to create meaningful impact," said Annick Verween, head of biotope.
The signal: The deals fit biotope's strategy of backing science-driven companies translating university research into commercial technologies across agrifood, sustainable materials, and climate tech. To date, its portfolio companies have raised more than €40 million.
