The deal takes effect September 1, 2026, with the combined organization operating under the Suncoast name.
By the numbers: Launch serves more than 86,000 members across Florida's Space Coast, running 17 branches in Brevard and Volusia counties. The merged entity will serve over 1.5 million members and manage more than $22 billion in assets.
Of Launch members who cast a ballot, 79.5% voted in favor. Regulators required only a simple majority.
What changes for members? Not much, at first. Accounts, branches, and digital services stay the same during the transition, and no branches will close. Both credit unions will run on separate systems until "Operational Day One," expected in summer 2027.
Launch will operate as "Launch, a Branch of Suncoast Credit Union" during integration. A special dividend of up to $15 million will be paid to qualified Launch accounts before the effective date.
Who leads? Kevin Johnson, president and chief executive officer of Suncoast, will run the combined organization. Joe Mirachi, Launch's chief executive officer, is retiring after the merger. The companies say no jobs will be lost.
"Together, we'll continue investing in innovative products, enhanced services and meaningful community impact," Johnson said. Mirachi said the approval "reflects confidence in a partnership that positions us to deliver even greater value while preserving the member-first philosophy."
The signal: Founded in 1934 and 1963 respectively, the two Florida institutions are consolidating scale in a sector where size increasingly drives investment in technology and services. The tie-up hands Suncoast a firmer hold on the Space Coast while pushing its footprint past 1.5 million members.
