China's PsiBot raises hundreds of millions from manufacturing giants at $1.4B valuation

What's the deal? Chinese embodied-AI startup PsiBot has closed a late-stage round of several hundred million dollars, joining the ranks of embodied-intelligence unicorns valued at 10 billion CNY (roughly $1.4 billion). The round, announced in August 2026, drew a coalition of industrial backers rather than pure financial investors.

What does PsiBot do? The company calls itself a "small full-stack" embodied firm, concentrating on an end-to-end WAM model plus data-collection tooling. It runs a dual-system architecture — the Psi-R2 model paired with the Psi-W0 action-conditioned world model — to improve robustness in unstructured settings.

Why the industrial backers? The three lead manufacturers span automotive assembly, robotics actuators, and precision 3C processing — both buyers of smart-manufacturing upgrades and holders of factory-floor resources. Founder Wang Qibin said Lens and Tuopu hold "overwhelming" advantages in mass production, and both are opening deployment scenarios to PsiBot.

What's the money for? Data is the bottleneck. PsiBot has amassed 100,000 hours of human-operation data and aims to hit one million hours within the year, while shipping two new model versions in the second half. The new industrial resources are meant to speed the loop from human data to model iteration to deployment and back.

Why now? China's embodied-AI sector has moved into staged commercial deployment this year, and PsiBot has validated small-scale commercialisation in logistics. Wang said financial investors are feeling pressure, making strategic industrial capital more important at this stage.

The signal: Wang, a 20-year veteran of robotics and consumer electronics, argues the sector has entered "deep water," shifting from demos to model pipelines and real deployment. He expects a more rational market ahead — and warns that some companies could fall behind by the first half of next year.
