POD Capital backs MBO of Japan's largest wood-chip supplier EcoGreen

What does EcoGreen do? Through group subsidiaries, EcoGreen collects, manufactures, processes, stores, and sells wood-chip raw materials, supplying recycled wood chips for a circular economy. Its group handles more than 500,000 tonnes of wood biomass a year — among the largest volumes in Japan's Kanto region.

What changes? Through the transaction, EcoGreen will acquire the Kamisu biomass power plant in Ibaraki Prefecture, giving it an integrated operation running from wood-chip production through to consumption for more efficient operations.

What's the endgame? POD Capital says it will support management's vision with capital, industry knowledge, and its network under the slogan "We help the dreamers, dream bigger." The firm frames itself as a long-term partner that keeps founders and executives in the lead role.
