Who's involved? Sweetmore is a family of SQF-certified bakeries with nearly 500 employees and facilities across the Northeast, Midwest, Southeast, and Southwest. Fantasy, founded in 1979, brings more than four decades of formulation expertise and an in-house R&D lab.
What's the endgame? The acquisition extends Sweetmore's manufacturing across all major US regions and strengthens its position in cookies and baked bars. It advances a long-term strategy of building a coast-to-coast network for premium sweet baked goods.

The bigger fit: Fantasy's range spans protein and breakfast bars, dry blends, and ice cream inclusions, plus organic, high-protein, non-GMO, gluten-free, and Kosher recipes. Those attributes align with the better-for-you and functional snacking trends reshaping the industry.
Chief executive officer David Veenstra said Fantasy gives Sweetmore "a true West Coast manufacturing footprint and deeper category capabilities that strengthen our ability to serve customers' various product needs nationwide." Fantasy CEO Russ Case said joining Sweetmore provides "access to scale and resources that will enable Fantasy to serve a broader audience and expand its capabilities."
The signal: Sweetmore's sixth deal since 2019 shows how private equity-backed roll-ups are consolidating the fragmented specialty baking market. By stacking regional manufacturers, the company is assembling a national platform pitched to retail in-store bakery and foodservice customers seeking a single, coast-to-coast supplier.
