Radiology Partners to buy Everlight, forging a global teleradiology leader

The rationale? Radiologist shortages are acute and global. In the UK, demand for CT and MRI imaging grew 9% in 2024-25 while the radiologist workforce grew 4.7%, per the Royal College of Radiologists. In Australia, imaging services under Medicare rose around 40% over the past decade, outpacing workforce supply.
Why now? Coverage gaps are felt most overnight, on weekends, and on holidays, when patients still need urgent studies reported but local staffing thins. Teleradiology closes those gaps through load balancing, subspecialty balancing, and AI tools that stretch local capacity.
What's the endgame? Each organisation will keep serving its current markets, with radiologists reading where they are licensed, while sharing technology and clinical standards. Both have invested heavily in AI — vRad has built clinical AI models since 2015, and RP's Mosaic division runs MosaicOS, which integrates vision language models and AI reporting tools.
Subject to regulatory clearances, Radiology Partners plans to make Mosaic Drafting — which applies AI to draft reports for radiologist review and sign-off — available to Everlight's radiologists.
The signal: The deal combines the largest US teleradiology platform with a network spanning five continents, betting that shared AI and a follow-the-sun model can extend scarce radiologist capacity worldwide as imaging demand keeps outrunning workforce growth.
