Utsav raises $3.8M Series A to scale its devotion platform

What's the deal? Kolkata-based spiritual and devotion platform Utsav has raised 360 million rupees ($3.8 million) in a Series A round led by Atomic Capital. Existing investors India Quotient and Equanimity Investments also participated.

What does it do? Founded by Sourajit Basu, Ankita De, and Prajata Samanta, Utsav works with temple priests, scholars, and acharyas to deliver devotional services online. Its offerings span puja bookings, pujari consultations, e-prasad, consecrated prasad, and personalised rituals.

By the numbers: The round lifts Utsav's total capital raised to 420 million rupees, including 63.5 million rupees secured in January 2025. The company says revenue has grown eightfold since that raise, and it now fulfils around 250,000 orders per month.

What's the endgame? Utsav plans to use the funds to expand its temple network, strengthen its technology and fulfilment capabilities, and grow its team. It is also targeting the Indian diaspora, letting devotees abroad take part in rituals at temples across the country.

Over the next 12 to 24 months, the company will invest in personalisation, discovery, logistics, and fulfilment. "We aim to make devotional experiences more accessible without compromising on their authenticity and sanctity," said chief executive officer Sourajit Basu.

The signal: Utsav's raise sits toward the smaller end of Series A rounds, but it lands in an increasingly crowded market. It competes with Vama.app, AppsForBharat, Astrotalk, Astroyogi, and DevDham, as investors continue to back startups digitising India's faith economy.
