TFP Solutions raises RM4.2M placement, cuts loss to RM2.08M in AI pivot

What's the deal? Malaysia's TFP Solutions BerhadDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → raised RM4.21 million (≈$1 million) through a private placement of 194.29 million new shares, issued at RM0.02 and RM0.0424 apiece. The proceeds lifted cash and bank balances to RM2.77 million as at June 30, 2026, up from RM248,000 a year earlier.

The numbers: TFP narrowed its full-year net loss to RM2.08 million for the 12 months ended June 30, 2026, from RM2.80 million a year earlier. Revenue fell 10.9% to RM3.37 million, but gross profit rose to RM2.71 million from RM2.23 million, lifting the gross margin to roughly 80.5% from 59.1%.

The margin gain came from a shift toward the Business Management Solutions segment, which grew RM1.8 million year-on-year and offset a RM2.1 million drop in fintech from weak mobile demand.

What's the endgame? TFP has repositioned around Artificial Intelligence, targeting public sector contracts under Malaysia's National AI Action Plan 2026-2030. It reported active talks with several ministries and agencies on generative AI, and exited two non-core subsidiaries during the period.

Why now? The placement strengthened shareholders' funds to RM8.24 million from RM5.51 million. Of RM3.89 million in gross proceeds, the company used RM969,000 for working capital, leaving about RM2.92 million unutilised. TFP also changed its financial year-end to December 31, 2026, following the retirement of its auditors.

What could go wrong? The company remains loss-making, and its AI push depends on securing first commercial contracts. Trade receivables aged more than 90 days jumped to RM5.20 million from RM1.29 million, while the allowance for expected credit losses held at RM663,000. No dividend was declared.

The signal: The placement is a modest one — a raise this size sits near the bottom of the market. But for a small-cap turnaround, fresh cash and a wider margin buy time to prove the AI bet before contracts materialise.
