The deal combines a primary investment, secondary share purchases, and the conversion of existing financial instruments.
The Budapest-based company builds digital tools for reading, language learning, and literacy, aimed at helping children read with understanding. Its BOOKR Class product gives schools interactive books, exercises, and teacher tools.
Where BOOKR stands today: The company has more than 600,000 paying students, over 3,000 schools, and a presence in more than 30 countries. It reported around $2.7 million in revenue, with English teaching as its main market alongside German and Hungarian courses.

What's the endgame? BOOKR will use the money to expand across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas through partnerships and distribution. It plans to launch BOOKR Next for learners aged 10 to 18, and BOOKR Phonics, an eight-phase program of decodable texts for early literacy.
The company also intends to roll out its Teacher Dashboard and Speaking Studio internationally, and to keep funding research linking product use to learning outcomes.
Why it matters: "The next generation will not compete with AI on speed. They will need to compete on depth: comprehension, curiosity, judgement and the ability to ask better questions," said chief executive officer and co-founder Dorka Horváth.
The signal: At €6.1 million, the round sits in the upper tier of European edtech Series A deals — a notable outcome for a company from central and eastern Europe. As 3TS investment manager Barnabás Vincze put it, BOOKR has built "a genuinely international business," with partner networks spanning Turkey, the UAE, Jordan, and China rather than a single home market.
