VALD acquires GymAware to connect testing and training

What's the deal? VALD has acquired GymAwareDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the velocity-based training (VBT) specialist. Terms were not disclosed. The announcement was made on 10 August 2026.

What each side brings: GymAware has spent more than 20 years measuring barbell velocity, movement velocity and training performance for elite sports teams, universities, military organisations and researchers. VALD's tools — including ForceDecks, ForceFrame, HumanTrak and DynaMo — measure strength, movement, power, balance and rehabilitation outcomes.

What's the endgame? VALD wants to build a connected physical performance ecosystem, where data flows from assessment to intervention and back. GymAware pushes VALD beyond testing and monitoring into the execution of training itself — guiding and monitoring weight-room work in real time.

Why it matters: Performance teams have long worked with a fragmented testing-to-training workflow. Athletes are assessed with one set of tools, programmes are prescribed elsewhere and outcomes are logged in a separate system, so insights get lost between stages.

What changes for customers? For existing GymAware clients, it remains business as usual. Devices, software and services will continue to be supported.

In their words: "GymAware has earned an exceptional reputation through more than 20 years of innovation and unwavering commitment to coaches and sports scientists," VALD said. "When we started VALD, GymAware was one of the few companies we looked up to as a true world leader in our space."

The signal: The deal reflects consolidation in sports performance technology, as buyers assemble end-to-end platforms rather than single-purpose tools. By adding a category leader in VBT, VALD is betting that the value lies in connecting measurement directly to how athletes train.
