SHU.ai raises $1M seed to keep enterprise AI on-premises

What's the deal? SHU.aiDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a private AI hosting platform spun out of Austin-based Maxwell Biosciences, has closed a $1 million seed round. Angel network Keiretsu ForumDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → led the oversubscribed round, which was fully funded by private angel investors.

What does it do? SHU.ai lets businesses and individuals run AI on their own data — on-premises or in a private cloud — with access controls, auditable governance, and full data sovereignty. It is model-agnostic, supporting ClaudeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, GPT, Grok, and open-source models, and never sends customer data to public providers or uses it to train public models.

The product angle: Its core technology, Ingestion-Time Intelligence, does the comprehension work once when a document enters the system rather than re-processing on every query, as traditional retrieval-augmented generation does. The company says that delivers higher accuracy and lower per-query cost.

Why now? Maxwell Biosciences, which develops immune-inspired small molecules called Claromers, incorporated SHU.ai as its first spinout on December 5, 2025. The funds will accelerate the product roadmap and develop commercial partnerships.

What's the endgame? Chief executive officer Marshall Adair said the company is "already in conversations with a large, virtual CFO enterprise and multiple large AI infrastructure firms who share our vision." Keiretsu Forum investors contributed $285,000 of the round.

Keiretsu Forum Canada vice president Mira Sirotic said members look for "a significant pain point that customers will pay to solve, defensible proprietary technology and a team that can execute," adding that "SHU checks every box."

The signal: The round is small — sitting in the bottom quartile of comparable deals by size — but it targets a growing pull for private, sovereign AI as enterprises seek to use sensitive data without exposing it to public models.
