LMO acquired by Enpulsion to build full spacecraft-mobility stack

What's the endgame? The deal moves Enpulsion beyond electric propulsion into hybrid systems, positioning it as a supplier of a complete "spacecraft-mobility backbone" — a modular architecture of pre-qualified building blocks that move and orient spacecraft across mission phases.

Chief executive officer Alexander Reissner said the acquisition "signals our commitment to build the complete spacecraft-mobility backbone," adding that LMO brings "institutional design credentials, a talented team and a complementary technology base."

Why now? The purchase gives Enpulsion a foothold in the UK space market. LMO's Harwell site sits close to ESA's European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications, offering access to national programmes.

LMO managing director Shaun Dormon called the tie-up "a natural fit for both companies," combining "Enpulsion's established scale, capabilities and resources with LMO's unique approach to integrating chemical propulsion systems."

What could go wrong? Completion is subject to UK government approval under the National Security and Investment Act 2021, expected in Q3 2026. LMO co-founders Michel Poucet and Marcos Perez will support the transition to ensure continuity across running programmes; the firm stays operational at Harwell.

The signal: The deal reflects consolidation among European space-tech suppliers as they race to offer end-to-end propulsion. By pairing electric and chemical systems, Enpulsion is betting that customers want a single vetted partner rather than building mobility architecture from scratch.
