Try Dealroom → Group. The deal covers the technology magazine Ny Teknik, founded in 1967, plus Teknikhistoria, Lag & Avtal, and Arbetarskydd.
The numbers. Ny Teknik Group posted revenue of just over SEK 90 million last year and EBITDA of about SEK 19 million. It aims to top SEK 100 million in revenue this year, driven by new event and education services and higher subscription income.
Who's selling? The sellers are entrepreneur Lars-Henrik Friis Molin's Talent Venture Group, board professional Gunilla Herlitz, chief executive officer Thomas Peterssohn, and business chief Christer Björkin. They bought the titles during the pandemic and have grown revenue and profit for five straight years.
"We are an entrepreneur-driven company that bought the magazines during the pandemic," Peterssohn said (translated from Swedish). "But we feel it is time for the next phase in the development." The price was not disclosed.
Why now? Ny Teknik is currently a membership benefit for the 188,000 members of the Sveriges Ingenjörer engineers' union, with a further 13,000 individual subscribers across its titles. The group runs with about 30 employees.
What's the endgame? Bonnier says it wants to improve Ny Teknik while widening coverage of both traditional industry and fast-growing tech companies. Peterssohn will stay on as chief executive officer and editor-in-chief.
The signal. The deal folds a profitable niche publisher into one of Sweden's largest media groups, extending consolidation in a market where scale increasingly underpins independent journalism. For Bonnier, it is a bet that specialist technology and industry coverage still commands paying readers.
