iA raises KRW 10 billion for modular AI data centres

What's the deal? South Korea's iADealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → is raising about KRW 10 billion (roughly $7 million) through a shareholder-allotted paid-in capital increase to fund NeoCubeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a new modular AI data centre business. Its board approved the move on 18 August 2026, the company said.

Who's backing it? The raise allocates new shares to existing shareholders, with largest shareholder DCiDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → planning to subscribe to all of its allotted shares. iA said it chose an equity raise over borrowing to fund the venture.

What's the endgame? NeoCube packages servers, storage, AI accelerators such as GPUs and NPUs, power and cooling, and cloud operations software into a single container or cabinet module installed at customer sites. iA plans to build a 25kW demonstration unit in September 2026, then scale to 100kW for commercialisation after verifying performance and efficiency.

Why now? The company is targeting customers where external clouds are restricted or real-time AI computing is needed, including manufacturing, defence and security, public institutions, finance, and healthcare.

What's the local angle? iA is working with domestic chipmakers FuriosaAI and Rebellions to apply Korean NPUs to NeoCube, tying the product to South Korea's push for homegrown AI silicon.

The signal: Modular, on-site data centres are emerging as an option for organisations that cannot or will not run AI workloads on public clouds, and iA is using a small equity round to seed a foothold before demand scales.
